Shopify or WooCommerce for a UAE online store?
Both platforms run successful UAE stores. The right choice depends on who runs the store day to day and how much control you need.

The short answer
Choose Shopify if you want a store that is quick to launch and low-maintenance, and you are happy to pay a monthly subscription. Choose WooCommerce if you need full control, unusual features, or you already run your business on WordPress.
Running and maintenance
Shopify handles hosting, security and updates for you. WooCommerce runs on WordPress, so someone needs to keep WordPress, the theme and plugins updated and backed up. That isn't hard, but it has to be done.
Payments, cash on delivery and instalments
Both platforms support card payments through local and international gateways, cash on delivery, and buy-now-pay-later options such as Tabby and Tamara. Check which gateways and fees suit your volumes before deciding, because they affect your margin on every order.
Arabic and right-to-left
Both can run an English and Arabic store. On either platform, a good Arabic experience needs real translation, right-to-left layout checks and separate SEO fields, not just an automatic translation button.
Cost over time
Over three years, the total cost is often closer than people expect. The real difference is who does the work and how much flexibility you need.
- Shopify: lower build effort, monthly plan plus paid apps, and transaction fees depending on gateway.
- WooCommerce: no platform subscription, but hosting, premium plugins and maintenance time.
When we recommend each
Not sure? That's exactly what the free call is for.
- Shopify: fashion, beauty, gifts, electronics and most brands with a standard catalogue.
- WooCommerce: complex pricing, B2B wholesale, custom workflows, or content-heavy businesses already on WordPress.
